Tax due dates
The federal deadlines that matter most for individuals and small businesses in 2026. When a due date falls on a weekend or holiday, it moves to the next business day.
January 15
Q4 2025 estimated tax payment
Final quarterly estimated payment for the 2025 tax year (Form 1040-ES) for self-employed taxpayers and others who pay as they go.
February 2
EMPLOYERSW-2s and most 1099s due to recipients
Employers and payers must send W-2 and most 1099 forms (normally due January 31; February 2, 2026 because the 31st falls on a Saturday). Expect your documents around this time.
March 16
BUSINESSESPartnership & S corporation returns
Forms 1065 and 1120-S for calendar-year businesses (March 15 falls on a Sunday in 2026). File Form 7004 by this date for a six-month extension.
April 15
TAX DAYIndividual returns, Q1 estimates & C corporations
Form 1040 and any tax owed are due, along with Q1 2026 estimated payments and calendar-year Form 1120. File Form 4868 for an extension to file — but tax owed is still due today.
June 15
Q2 2026 estimated tax payment
Second quarterly estimated payment. Also the filing deadline for U.S. citizens living abroad.
September 15
Q3 estimates & extended business returns
Third quarterly estimated payment, plus the extended deadline for partnership and S corporation returns.
October 15
Extended individual returns
Final deadline for 2025 individual returns on extension. Extended C corporation returns are also due.
January 15, 2027
Q4 2026 estimated tax payment
Final quarterly estimated payment for the 2026 tax year.
